Wall climbing is a sport that requires a serious and responsible approach to safety, especially in the case of bouldering, where no safety ropes are used by the climbers. For this reason, the climbing wall industry needs to include the manufacturing of safety mat.
Here, at Wood Plastix, our tailor shop produces PVC and wall-to-wall-carpet safety mats for CityMat, Europe’s leading safety mat brand, whose mats can be found in climbing and sports centre from Norway to Spain, from France to Hungary.
As with our wooden products, our workers receive the detailed computer sketch from the CNC technical processing team, which are then made into reality by our tailors. The PVC cover is spread out, measured and cut according to the schematic, after which hook-and-loop fasteners are sewed onto the edges. This is all done with the swiftness that can only come with the experience of thousands of square metres of fabric behind them.
The name of the game is to always beat your own best time. Our tailors keep rising to the challenge of finishing their work ahead of deadlines, and constantly strive to make those deadlines shorter. Over 1000m2 of PVC and the same amount of wall-to-wall carpet can be processed in a month’s time at their workshop.
